Autumn Migration along the Japan Sea

I enjoyed Autumn Migration along the Japan Sea. Although I had only 3days (4-6 Oct) in the Hokuriku region where is located in the northwestern part of Honshu, it was exciting days for me because of many flocks of Common Crossbill, Yellow-throated Bunting, Grey Bunting, Common Redpoll and Brambling.

Also one Wryneck appeared from dense bush in the early morning for sunbathing with squeaking calls.

After the cropping at rice field, it is good feeding and resting environment for water birds.

日本海側の秋の渡りを観察してきました。思いがけずアリスイに会えたのが個人的には感激でした。越冬地と繁殖地では会いますが、中継地で会えることが少ない鳥だと感じているので、こういう出会いは、これからの鳥の探し方を変えてくれそうです。

ちょっとした小さな公園にもミヤマホオジロの群れがあちこちにいることも驚きでしたが、数多く休んでいる公園にはいくつかの環境の条件もあり、興味深かったです。

また、ヒヨドリの群れにレンジャクが混じっているのも発見でした。毎年こういう光景が北陸では見られているのか、知りたくなりました。

ケリも何度か観察できたのですが、東海エリアで観察した個体群よりも、北陸では警戒心が強いという違いがあることも勉強になりました。ケリだから近づいても平気等と思わず、地域による差があることを肝に命じてバードウォッチングをしなくてはと思いました。
