2023 アオマツムシとセミの終認日

10月も終わりなので、今年のセミとアオマツムシの終認日を確定することにしました。

追記：アオマツムシはその後記録更新して2023/11/12確認

秋の渡りの時期で地元不在も多かったので、厳密にはこの記録が私の見ている地域の終認とは言えません。終認の記録は意識して記録の積み重ねをする必要があるので、初認に比べると大変なのですが、これはこれで楽しいです。

20.3km/l, 250000km

10/21、私の乗っている車の燃費が満タン給油後に、すぐ高速道路を約60km走行した際に燃費計を見たら、なんと20.3km/l。これまでは18.9km/lでしたので、記録更新です。

高速道路を走行中に瞬間的には20.9km/l まで伸びた時もありました。この日の全行程100km走行後は、街中での走行も加わったために16.2km/lにはなりましたが、カタログ値の15.8km/l より良い値なので、私は大満足です。

人生初の新車購入をし、乗り始めて13年以上、かつ25万キロ以上の純ガソリン車でこれだけの燃費です。気に入っていますので、今のところは乗り換えは予定していません。これからも丁寧に運転して、できる限り乗り続けたいと思います。

Welcome back! 交雑雄化個体

2015年11月4日に初めて確認したオナガガモとヒドリガモの交雑雄化個体が今年もやってきました。同個体をこれだけの長期に追い続けられるのは、SAさんのおかげもあって私にとって初めてです。

I could meet the bird, Pintail x Eurasian Wigeon Hybrid with masculinization has come since in 2015 November.

Raptor Migration 2023 report Vol.2

2023年猛禽類の渡りの観察地2カ所目では、これまでにない多数のタカの渡る光景を観察できました。9:10頃に現地到着して私が観察道具の準備中に同行者のNgさんがすぐにハチクマを発見、その後はタカ柱がいくつもできました。

My second location where the point I have been observing since 2017, was inland. I was very surprised watching more hawks than ever before. Several large flocks of hawk were formed using updrafts. After watching the migration with friends, we talked about the total number of hawks, roughly over 2000. We hope to have another opportunity like this in the future.

Some migrating birds, Brown-eared Bulbuls and Japanese Green Pigeons for example, are seen every year in the morning only. However I saw the birds this year until the end of the afternoon observation. I expected that the weather had not been good up to that day. Many birds, not only hawks, must be waited the day, to be able to fly for the south.

例年ならば、午後にはタカやそれ以外の鳥の動きが途絶えるのですが、1〜数羽も含めると、今年は観察を終了した16:00頃までほぼ絶え間なく渡っていました。

ヒタキ類も今回のバードウォッチングの期間に観察しました。

Raptor Migration 2023 report Vol.1

2023年の秋は3カ所の猛禽類の渡りの観察へ行きました。最初の訪問地は私にとって初めてのタカ渡り観察スポット。少し早い時期でしたが、日を重ねるにつれて個体数が増えていく様子が、個人的にはとても興味深かったです。次回はもう少し長い滞在ができるように調整したいと思います。

I went to 3 places to enjoy watching raptor migration in September and October in 2023. At each location, I could watch a lot of birds.  

My first visiting place in 2023 was Tsushima in Nagasaki Pref.

The Uchiyama Pass is the first transit point in Japan for Chinese Sparrowhawks from the South Korea. The members of the Tsushima Wild Bird Society are dedicated surveyors, so detailed records are available, update everyday on the website of Hawk Migration Network, while the hawks are migrating.

Chinese Sparrowhawks

Early September was the period when the number of flying hawks gradually increases, it means a good time to feel for the beginning of the Chinese Sparrowhawk migration. If you are lucky, will encounter several huge flocks of more than 1,000.

One last important thing to mention, as September is typhoon season in Japan, I really advise all birdwatchers, especially a person who from abroad, to have more days or flexible plan in their schedules to visit Tsushima.
