「絶滅危惧種ヨウムの将来を考える」のお知らせ

今年、野鳥画展をさせていただいた富山ファミリーパークから、ヨウムについての講演会が開催されるという連絡が届きましたので、お知らせいたします。ペットとして人気が高く、日本に限らず世界各国で数多く飼育されていますが、単独飼育が多いために個人がペット下では繁殖することは難しいうえに、人気で乱獲や密猟で野生下の個体数が激減しているのが現状です。

富山ファミリーパークはヨウムを同一禽舎で複数飼育して繁殖を目指している動物園で、今回、岐阜大学の楠田先生と中部大学の牛田先生による、大変貴重な講演となります。ぜひお誘い合せの上、ご参加ください。

今年はセイタカシギが10羽飛来していました。

ミツユビカモメの大群 Kittiwakes with

海岸に強い北風が吹いた日に港へ行くと、ミツユビカモメの大群が避難していました。普段は見られない鳥が一緒に飛来している可能性があると予測し、堤防上で休む群れの一羽ずつ望遠鏡（接眼レンズは45倍を装着）でチェックすると、なんとアカアシミツユビカモメも確認できました。私のカメラでは撮影できなかったのですが、Ynさんの高性能800mmレンズ装着のカメラでは、飛び立った瞬間に特徴を捉えていました。

I went to a port facing the Sea of Okhotsk in Hokkaido on 7 October when a storm day with strong north wind blew, and saw a huge flock of Black-legged Kittiwake, at least 3,000 birds, probably more than 10,000 including the number outside the port. I checked each of the flock resting on the sea dike with my telescope x45, and found Red-legged Kittiwakes as well.

Looking through the telescope to offshore from the port, I could enjoy many sea birds,  Loons, Skuas, Fulmars, and Fork-tailed Storm-petrels, etc. Fork-tailed Storm-petrels sometimes came into the port.

嵐の翌日、岬では一心不乱に採餌に勤むアオジの姿がありました。

ハナミズキ

ハナミズキが今年もたくさん実りました。シジュウカラやツグミ、ヒヨドリ、ジョウビタキなどがやってくるのも、もうすぐでしょうか。

楽しみです。

Raptor Migration 2023 report Vol.3

2023年最後の猛禽類の渡り観察場所は、昨年から本格的な観察開始した半島でした。タイミングが大事で、滞在期間を可能な限り長くしたのですが、風向きが合わなかったり、天候が酷く悪化したりと、渡りには不向きな日々が続きました。

The final place for me to watch raptor migration in 2023 was in a peninsula of Northern Japan. Birds of prey started migration in a day early October when the wind direction changes, and small birds were also passing before or after raptors.

最終日には天候のなんとか回復して風向きが渡りに適した状態になり、希望数を観察できました。学生時代からお世話になっているSkさん、普段の業務でお疲れにも関わらず、休日に調査を一緒にしてくださるMmさん、遠方から駆けつけてくださるYnさん、全国を旅行している途中で楽しく話をしてくださったHsoさん、現地で本当にありがとうございました。

Peregrine Falcon（Resident）

It was very nice to see the birds rushing on their own way toward the wintering place. Although I had to be very careful about Brown Bears (especially with cubs!) from the early morning survey, it was wonderful time to see these birds. 

I suspected that small birds may be shifting the timing of their migration to avoid being attacked by the birds of prey.
