人生2度目の出会い His second time

今年初めてオグロシギを観察していたら、その鳥を指差しながら、アメリカ人バードウォッチャーに「あの鳥は何だかわかりますか？」と流暢な日本語で声をかけられました。オグロシギとお伝えすると、彼は親指を立てながら笑顔で大喜びでした。聞くと、人生２度目のオグロシギとの出会いだそうで、日本では初めてとのこと。彼にとって、この水辺は忘れられない場所になったことでしょう。日本でのバードウォッチングのお手伝いを少しできたことが、嬉しかったです。

I visited at Isa-numa to count roosting herons and egrets on 19th September 2023, I could find a Black-tailed Godwit for the first time this year. 

Then, a short time later, an American birdwatcher asked me in fluent Japanese, 

"Do you know what that bird is?".

He smiled and was overjoyed when I answered both of the bird name in English and Japanese. It was the second time for him to watch the bird in his life, and the first time in Japan. I was also delighted to see his smile!
