By the influence of the COVID-19 that has spread worldwide since the end of 2019, I have visited birding spots just around. However it gives me a wonderful opportunity to challenge new one that I had not worked on before.
2019年末から世界を騒がせている今回の新型コロナの影響を受けて、私もバードウォッチングへ出かける範囲が、以前に比べると非常に限定的になりました。ただ、そのおかげと言っては何ですが、身近な自然環境に足しげく通って季節による変化を見つめるようにもなり、これまで敬遠してきたことに挑戦するきっかけになりました。
In 2020, I was taught the importance of gazing at common birds and nature with a theme, and I set a new goal in my life from 2021 for writing some treatises of common birds with collecting useful basic data about nature for the next generation.
昨夏に、ほぼ毎日とある場所に通って調べた内容も、これまで感覚的にだけ捉えていた数値が如何にいい加減なものであったかを思い知らされ、データをきちんと取る重要性を認識しました。
Unfortunately, there is a little basic research on common birds in Japan, unlike European Countries. Therefore, we have to refer to overseas books and literatures even if you want to know the detail ecology of any birds of Japan.
お恥ずかしい話なのですが、始めた当初は「密を避けるために、ほとんど注目されない鳥をじっくり観察しよう」という非常に安易な考えでした。しかし、それが予想以上におもしろく、そして私には新鮮な驚きのある内容でした。
2020年は私にとって「テーマを持って自然の中を歩く重要性」を教わった時間となり、今後数年は次世代の人たちに役立つデータ収集をしていくという新たな目標を立てました。
I am going to collect detail data of my neighbor birds（it means not popular birds of Japan for general birders, perhaps）for several years in the fields that I am interested in, and hope it will useful for young ornithologists.
そのようなプランを立てたものの、遠くに出かける時間はいらないと言ったら、それはやはり嘘になります。特に、私の大好きな画家の一人である箕輪義隆さんの「新 海鳥ハンドブック」を持って海鳥を見たい衝動は大きく、各地に発令された緊急事態宣言が解除されたら、ぜひそれもしようと思っています。
コロナが全ての人にとって気にするものではなくなる日が1日も早く来ることを願わずにはいられません。
