5月の確認種 My Bird List in May

毎年、見聞した鳥を日本産鳥類目録（第8版）に基づいて記録しています。1月からの総計として、5月31日時点での見聞種数は209種（外来種4種：ガビチョウ、コジュケイ、ホンセイインコ、ドバトを含む）になりました。5月は各地で夏鳥たちとの出会いや、旅鳥たちの姿を見ることができ、充実した1ヶ月となりました。いよいよ雨の多い時期になりますので、皆様も体調に気をつけて鳥たちとの時間を楽しんでください。

03/May/2026 Chestnut-cheeked Starling

I updated my year list of Japanese birds annually, following the official 8th edition check-list. By the end of May, I had reached 209 species (including 4 non-natives). 

03/May/2026 Bar-tailed Godwit and Grey-tailed Tattler

18/May/2026 Ruddy Turnstone and Rufous-necked Stint

I went to some tidal flats in Tokyo Bay on May 3rd to watch long travelers such as Oriental Pratincoles, Spotted Redshanks, Bar-tailed Godwits, and some Chestnut-cheeked Starlings.

15/May/2026 Latham's Snipe

I also had the opportunity to visit Hokkaido, where I encountered 129 species. Highlights included the Siberian Rubythroat, several seabirds and the impressive display flight of Latham's Snipe, for example.

22/May/2026 Reed Bunting

I spotted a Reed Bunting in the dwarf pines. Perhaps she was just refuelling on her way up north.
