Same as last year, the 3rd place for me to watch raptor migration in 2024 was in a peninsula of Northern Japan. It is said that Birds of prey around the area start migration in a day early October when the main wind direction changes, also small birds are passing between raptors.
The weather during my stay in 2024 was particularly unsuitable for migration and I had great difficulty in observing. It rained terribly and deep fog, as well as the footpath was sometimes closed by bear. Fortunately the weather sometimes improved, and I enjoyed some migrating birds by evening, Japanese Green Pigeons, Oriental Turtle Doves, Hawfinches, Water Pipits for example. My surprise, Loons crossed over my head!

I counted over 4,000 birds in total, Black Kite, White-tailed Eagle, Merlin, Hobby, Common Kestrel, Eastern Buzzard, Northern Goshawk, Marsh Harrier, also small birds like Water Pipit, Siskin, Coal Tit, Snow bunting, Pine Grosbeak, Common Starling, some big flocks of Oriental Greenfinch, and so on.
Mountain Hawk-eagle (Resident)
I stayed 5days and watched 116 species in total. It was a very interesting visit with very nice records.
I would like to thank 2 keen birders for their cooperation in this site survey.
